Strike a Pose

It has been a busy Spring in our house! We decided to build a new house, had to find a renter for our current house, say goodbye to an exchange student and start packing to move in late July! I did get to sit down and make a layout this week. Still using the March Studio Calico kit. I hope to kill the kit this week and dig into April's!

Riverfront

This layout is another for the Scrapbook.com Monthly Sketch Challenge. Here is the sketch

March MSC ~ Week 2 Sketch

and here is my layout! I worked hard on those arrows using Colorshine (Primrose), Mister Huey (white), and Sprinklers (Hopscotch) to give them the ombre look! I used the branch die cut (from a previous kit I think) and cut out the banner, backed it with pink CS and used the stamp set from the kit to add the phrase. I also dotted pink Stickles on the branch to tie in the colors.

Technology

Time to play with a new Studio Calico kit! I love that they included a small bottle of Mister Huey's in the kit, but the color did not work for this layout so I used my White (also from SC). The only other non-kit items are the wood veneer cameras (also SC) and the enamel dots from a previous kit.

The Cow

I have had this photo for a few years now and struggled with how to tell the story. I was participating in the Monthly Sketch Challenge on Scrapbook.com and the sketch for the first week was this one:

I flipped the sketch so that my photo was in the correct place, pulled out my scraps from my Feb Studio Calico kit and here you go!

LOAD Days 26-28

I finished! 28 layouts in 28 days!

Day 26 - Smile for the Camera
I still need to add the journaling for this one.. something about how I am usually behind the camera and not in the pictures! I used the MME The Sweetest Thing collection

Day 27 - The Sweetest Thing
I used the off cuts and branding strips from the MME The Sweetest Thing layout, and a sketch from Shimelle. I can honestly say that I killed this collection! I have a brad and a few of the yellow word stickers left!

Day 28 - Time to play
I had a few bits a pieces left from the October Afternoon - Sidewalks collection in my scrap basket, so I pulled them all together for this layout!

And here is a photo of the stack of layouts that I completed in February!

LOAD Days 23-25

More LOAD Catch-Up!

Day 23 - Lauren's Perfect Happy Smile
I had a Mommy - Daughter crafting night with my 6 year old, and she picked out everything for this page (with just a little guidance) and told me where to put everything! We used an Echo Park Summer collection.. I need to look up which one!

Day 24 - Cool chick
I used some more of the MME Sweetest thing collection and some pics from 2004 (need to look up the date still)

Day 25 - I am not a runner
This layout is about a goal that I did not know I had.. and how I achieved it.

LOAD Days 20-22

Day 20 - I am 4
Another Feb SC Kit layout! There is hidden journaling behind the title (the tab above it) and "hidden" 4's all over the page.

Day 21 - Fashionista
I killed my Feb SC kit! I added some bling from my stash and some Color Shine in Mustard

Day 22 - Megan's First Dance
This layout uses MME The Sweetest Thing and twine from my stash

LOAD Days 18-19

Playing catch up on the blog again! Here are my days 18-22 layouts!

Day 18- I love my Lolo
Lauren made the hands forming a heart in school this year. I added an older photo of the two of us for this layout using my SC Feb kit. The red glitter paper is from SU. I misted the wood veneer arrows with Colorshine, added some SC wood veneer from my stash and some Queen&Co (I think) bling.

Day 19 - Grandma Bice
Another Layout using my Feb SC kit and a sketch from the Basic Grey Blog

LOAD Days 14,15 & 17

My Studio Calico kit for February came in so my layouts for days 14,15 & 17 all used it!

Day 14 - The Domes
The flowers are from American Crafts, and the Washi strip detail was completely lifted from Jen Jockisch on the SC Gallery!

Day 15 - My Megan Becca, My Mommy Marie
I used more of the AC chipboard elements, but everything else is from the Feb Studio Calico Kit! The card on the bottom right was the "This kit was packaged by" card, and the name happened to be the same as my daughter Laurens! So I cut off the name portion and added "Photo taken by" and the date around it. The pattern on the top of the tag was trimmed off and put in the top right corner to balance it out.

Day 17 - My girls
I was not really in the mood to scrapbook this day.. so I pulled out an old portrait of the girls. The PP and the enamel dots are from the SC kit, but the rest of the embellishments are from my stash. I used a flower punch on some PTI PP, and a bunch of old Prima flowers. The pearls are from SU and the large white brads are from AC I think. I did not want anything adhered to the photo itself, so I added my title on some acetate that I embossed and stitched the acetate panel across the top to hold it in place. The butterflies are punched out of the washi tape that came in the kit. I just put a strip down onto some white CS and punched it out with the Martha Stewart butterfly punch.

LOAD Days 13

LOAD Day 13 - Its Hunting Time.

For this layout I used Shimelle's starting point from last week. Eric still needs to tell me what the journaling should say though!

LOAD Days 11-12 and 16

My layouts for LOAD days 11, 12 and 16 killed the Echo Park - Hello Summer collection that I had been holding onto. There are just a few scraps and a couple of stickers left that I gave to the girls for their stash. I did complete layouts for days 13-15, but wanted to post these 3 together along with a roundup of the other layouts that I completed with this collection.

Day 11 - CW Parker Carousel Museum
Everything on this page is from the collection

Day 12 - Megan's First Pony Ride
For this layout I added an old sheet of PP that I had in my stash for the background and added some mist with October Afternoon Sprinklers

Day 16 - 10 things I love about Lauren

I added some pink and white CS, and misted with October Afternoon Sprinklers and Heidi Swapp Color Shine. Everything else was from the collection!

And here are the previous pages that I made using this collection - from yesterday's post.

LOAD Catch up - Days 7 -10

Ok, I really have been creating a layout each day for LOAD, but I have not been good about posting them to the blog. Here are the days 7-10 layouts.

Day 7 - Great Outdoor Adventures with Jager.
I pulled out some Simple Stories for this layout. There is a 6x12 on the left with the journaling and additional photos, with the 12x12 on the right focusing on the action shots of Jager jumping into the pond.

Day 8 - Baby it's cold outside.
This layout uses PP from an Echo Park winter collection from last year, and a bunch of embellishments from my stash. The flocked snowflake vellum in from Making Memories and I stitched it on.

Day 9 - Hello Summer at Deanna Rose
This layout uses the Echo Park - Hello Summer collection

Day 10 - Feeding the Baby Goats
This is a companion page to Hello Summer at Deanna Rose and also uses the Hello Summer collection. I added some doilies from my stash as well as the Studio Calico wood veneer cameras.

Lovely Sira - LOAD Day 6

I am trying to use up some of my older collections during this LOAD, so for this photo I pulled out the October Afternoon - Sidewalks collection. This layout killed that collection with some scraps going into my scrap bin and the leftover stickers going into the girls stash.

I completed 10 pages using this collection, mostly adding kraft CS. Here are the other layouts that I completed using this collection:

Forever - LOAD Day 5

I am thrilled with how this layout turned out! The photos were taken on our 10 year anniversary, and it took me forever to find the right PP to use. I dug through my stash pulling out anything that had the red or the blue that I was looking for. This star PP had both colors in it, but it was not my favorite, so I decided to use it as a border to tie in the colors. There is journaling hidden behind the photos, which can be accessed by pulling on the silver heart (PTI die).

I love the title, and it makes me smile every time I look at it. Of course there is a story behind it which I included in the journaling. When the minister asked my father "Who gives this woman to this man..." my father replied that he was not giving me away, but loaning me out with a 20 year renewable lease". Now, I think that he just said this at the rehearsal, but he claims it was at the ceremony itself. Either way it was said, and remains a joke in our family, and explains the title. Forever, or at least the next 10 years.

Cousins - LOAD Day 4

I was getting ready to put away all of the leftovers from my January Studio Calico kit when I decided to try to get one more layout out of it. The photos that I wanted to scrap had this strong pink in them, and there was the same pink on one of the branding strips. I started with a sketch from Shimelle and the remnants from the kit. The dot PP did not have the right colors in it though, so I used some SU ink and heart stamp, and a small dot stamp from an Ali Edwards stamp set to add the bright pink to the PP. I added some pink doily washi tape from my stash to bring in more of the pink, and the glittery letters, but everything else is from the kit!

One of a Kind Dad - LOAD Day 3

I decided to use an older collection instead of my Studio Calico kit for a while. I still had quite a bit of the My Minds Eye - Sweetest Thing collection pack left over. The colors matched the family photo perfectly, but the layout was about a surprise party thrown for my Dad. SO I added more of the black and grey pieces of the collection to add a little more masculine.. even while using my favorite pinks and yellows!

Chalk Art - LOAD Day 2

I really liked the black and white circles PP from the January Studio Calico kit, but I really struggled with how to use it. I was looking through my photos and decided to use these of the girls drawing on our driveway with chalk.  I dug out my neglected SU chalk and colored in some of the circles with chalks that matched the embellishments.
Of course after I uploaded the photos I noticed that I wrote "Spring" in the journaling, and the photos were taken in September. oops! I have not figured out how to correct it yet.

Swim Lessons

I am really enjoying working with the Studio Calico kits, but I think that I am ready to go back to my stash as well. Maybe when I am done with this kit I will spend most of LOAD (started 2/1.. but I did not have these layouts posted yet!) working out of my stash instead of relying on a kit. Most of the little embellishments are from previous SC kits

An aerial view of home

Another new favorite layout! I have been really pleased with my scrapbooking lately. I took this photo from the air while on a plane ride with my Brother-in-law who has his pilots license. I added pieces cut from a Hambly transparency that I had been hoarding. I actually layered a strip of it over the Thickers that came in the kit to add some color to them! The stars were colored with SU ink, and I stamped the number line from this month's kit under the patterned vellum. The green alphas, camera sticker and the orange bow paperclip are from a previous SC kit.

Homemade Applesauce

A double post tonight and my first LOAD213 layout! I was not able to follow the prompt to create a layout without words, but I am really happy with what I did create! I loved the background PP as soon as I opened up my kit, and it is perfect for this layout. I stamped the arrows using red ink (SU) on the chipboard thickers and they kinda look like hearts! The heart badge is from a previous kit, as well as some of the enamel dots. I am thinking that I should have matted the photos with a thin mat, maybe in the blue color... oh well!
