Using Scraps

Before cleaning up my workspace from the mini album I decided to make a coordinating card to go with the gift. The CS, stamp and ink is from PTI. I misted the Melon Berry CS with some homemade perfect pearls mist and ran it through my cuttlebug with the Damask Impression Plate. I layered the Teresa Collins PP, a sticker form the collection and a strip of CS that I stamped the sentiment (also PTI) on. I added a couple of the butterfly die cuts from teh collection and some SU Pearls.

Baby Card and Gift Bag

I used the scraps from the mini album and made a card and gift bag for the baby shower gift. I also added an extra pocket to the back of the mini album to hold some journaling spots punched from the same PTI CS with the SU label punch. For the gift bag I used Shimelle's starting point that she posted today.

Amanda's Birthday Card - 2011

My sister is an amazing crafter, and not just papercrafts. She crochets, quilts, makes jewelry, fused glass.. you name it, she can probably craft it. So of course making her a birthday card is not a simple thing. I have to make a really good card!

on the PTI forum and knew that I wanted to make something similar. I had this adorable glittered paper (I think it is DCWV) already out on my table from another project and I loved the turquoise in it. Amanda's favorite color is blue so I knew that it would work.

As I was gathering my supplies I ran into my first problem. I could have sworn that I had the PTI Star die used in my inspiration card.. but apparently not. So I had to dig through my dies to find another shape that would work. The label from the Tea for Two (I think that is what it is called) set seemed to work the best.

Then I ran into my second problem.. I wanted to cut the die out of both pieces at the same time (obviously) but did not want them adhered yet since I still needed to emboss the background. (As I type this out I wonder why I did not emboss the white first and THEN cut out the shape) So it took 3 tries to get everything cut straight. I intentionally off centered the label, but of course did not realize until it was all put together that it was not off-centered enough to look intentional. Oh well.

So I get everything adhered, outline my image with a marker and go to grab my PTI buttons... and realize that I must have missed ordering the Hawaiian Shores buttons. I am not sure how since I typically order the entire color collection at one time... but nope. No buttons. I pull out my blue bin (I really need to post my revamped storage here soon) and luckily I had some bling in the perfect blue.

So here you go.. not as pretty as the card my sister gave me for my birthday this weekend, but it was made with a lot of love (and took entirely too long!)

Billy's Bday Card

Another quick Papertrey Ink birthday card! This one is for my BIL Billy. When I saw the plane stamps and dies I knew I had to get it for his card (he just got his pilot's license this year)

Mom's Birthday card

I had to go with the "tea" theme of Mom's birthday gift that I posted about yesterday so I broke out Papertrey Ink's Tea for Two stamps and teapot die. I used a sheet of the new Damask Designs PP, and used the Damask stamp set, Versamark and clear embossing powder on the Summer Sunrise label, and also on the tea pot.

PTI Blog Hop - June 2011

For the first time in months... I actually made a card for the PTI Blog Hop! 

I started with the rainbow color inspiration, combined with Betsy's sentiment focal point idea and came up with this birthday card for my neice. Ink is from SU, everything else is PTI!

Father's Day

A little late, but here is the card that I made for my Dad for Father's Day.
I was going for a skywriting look., and though I am not thrilled with the handwritten "Father's Day" I did not like any of the stamp options that I had. Apparently I need more Father's day stamps!

Mother's Day Gift

Does this count for a Make it Monday challenge if I made it on Sunday? Probably not, but I actually used the Selective Inking technique demonstrated in this week's video! I also stamped inside of my card, though it is not anywhere near as pretty as Erin Lincoln's card.

I purchased these Vera Bradley item's for my Mom for Mother's Day and wanted to make a coordinating card. I used multiple stamp sets (all PTI though) and inks (PTI and Memento) on PTI CS for the floral background. When I was done with the background I was not sure where to put the sentiment...  so I dug through my dies and found the Tea for Two label die (I have never used it...) and it was the perfect size! Then I went through my new stamp catalog (pictures and post on it to come) and found the perfect sentiment, but it was a long one. So, I carefully inked up "Happy" first, when I was done stamping it I cleaned off my stamp real good, and used scotch tape to cover up the "Happy" and "Day" so that I could ink up "Mother's", once the ink was on I peeled off the tape and stamped "Mother's" in the middle. "Day" was easy since it was on the end and I could ink it up on it's own.
Before adding the ribbon and tag I decided that the background needed a little something else, so I broke out my score-tape and some Martha Stewart glitter and made a glitter border around the background. Once the ribbon and tag were adhered, I popped the panel up on SU dimensionals on the card base which was made out of the same PTI CS.
I stamped a little more on the inside of the card and then put everything in a gift bag. I am not really thrilled with how the gift bag turned out, but Mom loved it.

Baby Shower Gift

Finally got back in my craft room this weekend in order to make a baby gift for a friend. I stamped these onesies, added some cute little coordinating pants, and made a card. I also gave her a big box of diapers, but you do not need a picture of those! All supplies are Papertrey Ink except for the owl, butterfly and birds stamps.

For the card I used some new dies (Limitless Layers and the Edgers #1 Collection), score-tape and glitter, and layered some ribbon. I wish that I had added something else to the blue layer. Embossing, or maybe some score lines...

 

After I wrote my message on the inside you could see the writing under the edge detail (I only cut the front panel) so I added another layer of blue to the bottom of the card. I liked it better the first way... but I still think it looks nice! Next time I am going to cut both edges of the card at the same time so that I do not have to worry about it.

Valentines Card

We made up a couple more pencil valentines for some neighbors, and using the same supplies I whipped up this Valentines Card for the grown ups.

 

Pink CS is from my stash, the PP is from K&Co ( I am almost done using the stack!) The heart/ friend stamp and coordinating heart punch is from Stampin Up, and the Inks are Papertrey Ink.

I crafted!!

This weekend I actually had the opportunity to play in my clean craft room! I started with this card:

 

All supplies are Papertrey ink except for the Cuttlebug Embossing folder for the sentiment, and the pearls which came from Hobby Lobby. I cut a bunch of felt hearts with the smallest scalloped heart nestabilities (I do not have the Heart Prints dies yet..) and just  played around with them for a while. I finally decided to stitch them across the middle, but wanted something behind the hearts to anchor them. I embossed the image from the Mat Stack 1 Collection with white embossing powder, and then stitched the hearts right on top of it. I added some Fresh Snow ink to the edges and the embossed sentiment, and topped it off with some pearls.

Happy Birthday Sira!

Today Sira turned 16! We are having her family birthday party tonight, and tomorrow afternoon she is going out with friends to celebrate, so no birthday pictures yet. But here is the card that I made for her:

All supplies are PTI except for the Momento ink and clear embossing powder.

Gingerbread Joy Card

Don't you just hate it when you work all weekend on a project, it turns out great... and you cant post it on your blog because it is a gift? Yep.. I just finished my sister Amanda's Christmas gift, and am pretty proud of it. But since she reads my blog I can not post it until after Christmas! I need to take pictures and get the post all ready to go so that I can show everyone after Christmas though.

I did make a quick card last night while playing with my new stamps. I used PTI's Framed and Holiday Button Bits with Fine Linen, Scarlet Jewel and Vintage Cream cardstock. I used a tip that a fellow PTI Post-Its blogger Emily posted about misting the cardstock before embossing it. WOW... It really made a difference! I used Pearl Glimmer Mist on the Scarlet Jewel cardstock before embossing with PTIs linen texture plate. After adding the Scarlet Jewel buttons to the gingerbread man I thought it needed one more button, so I covered the "o" in Joy with another button! I think that it turned out super cute, and it did not take long at all!

Birthday Calendar

I finished up a Christmas gift last week. I am not sure if the recipient looks at my blog, so I have to leave out a few pictures so that I do not give it away.
All of the supplies are from Papertrey Ink, with the exception of some brads, a Heidi Swapp flower and a Maya Road stickpin. I started with the PTI Kraft Binder and decorated the front and spine with the Calendar Basics and Background Basics: Text Style stamps and Blueberry Sky cardstock, ribbon and felt. The ink is actually from one of my Tombow markers

Here is  a peek at the inside pages. Each page forms a pocket and I put a handmade card in each pocket.

Happy Anniversary... a little late

Eric and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on September 28th. We kept it pretty simple and exchanged cards and went out to dinner on the Plaza. This is the simple, masculine but elegant (I think) card that I made for Eric. The cardstock is Papertrey Ink's Stampers Select White and Soft Stone.  The patterned paper all came from scraps in my stash. I know that some of it is Basic Grey... but I not sure about the rest. I heat embossed the "Always" (from Papertrey Ink) and you can not tell from the picture but the red heart is actually glossy paper. All of the hearts were cut from the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge.

Amanda's Birthday Card

I took the easy way out for Amanda's birthday and got her a gift certificate to a local shop called Picket Fences and Petals. They always package their gift certificates in a little box with a beautiful bow, so I needed to make a card to coordinate with it!

All supplies are Papertrey Ink except for the stickles. The color is off on the first picture and I can not get it right, but wanted to show you the card next to the pretty package.

Graduation Gift

I started out making a card for my sister and playing with PTIs new felt. I wanted to make a flower... but it turned out a little big for a card. So I turned it into a pin/ headband instead!

Then I made a card with more of the felt..

And a coordinating notepad (there are actually 2 PTI notepads in this holder

I used PTI's Hawaiian Shore CS, Felt, and ink. Lots of pearls, some glitter (applied with a Zig 2-way Glue Pen), Nesties, a little ribbon and some stitching were used to tie all 3 pieces together. 
 
 
 

Sending You

I was playing around with my new stamps and ink from PTI and came up with this card! The Maya Road stickpin matches perfectly with the PTI Sweet Blush ink, CS and ribbon.  I used my scallop nesties and paper pierced the scallops for a little more detail. The stamp sets used are Big and Bold Wishes and Fancy Flourishes.

SC266 - Birthday Card

I made the following card using the SC266 Sketch from SplitCoastStampers. All supplies are PTI except for the bling. I knew that I wanted to use the cupcake image from the Sweet Treats cartridge, so this sketch worked out perfectly. I cut everything at 3" except for the cupcake wrapper which I cut at 3.25. I then ran the wrapper through my crimper. I added some bling (from Michaels) to the cherry.

I used the Wishing You... stamp set from PTI for the sentiment, and the scallop heart Nesties that my sister gave me for Christmas. I used my paper piercer around the larger heart, and the bling heart is actually an old earring of mine. The cupcake and the mat behind it are both popped up using stamping dimensionals. I am really pleased with how this card turned out!

Megan's Card

Megan and I made a card for a Birthday Party that she is going to tonight. She picked out the image (from the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge) and the papers. She even picked out the stamps! She glued everything together also. All supplies are PTI except for the stickles. For some reason I can not find my pink or red stickles...
