On the Scrap Happy forum someone started a "Chinese Whispers" challenge of sorts. We each start with a Sketch which we send to the coordinator, and then we complete a layout based on that sketch. We then send that layout to the next person on the list who will complete a layout based on it. The layouts will keep getting passed around until they reach the "end" and then the original sketch will be revealed. It will be interesting to see how the layouts progressed compared to the original sketch!

This is the layout that I sent to the next person on the list. The PP and banner is from Little Yellow Bicycle. The butterflies are cut from the SU butterfly die, in both blue (PTI) and a printed vellum that has been in my stash for years, and layered together. The sketch that I started with is Sketch 288 from Scrapbook Challenges. As you can see I already deviated from the sketch by moving the title to the top instead of under the photos, and using the curly frame instead of a circle.

Mother's Day Gift

Does this count for a Make it Monday challenge if I made it on Sunday? Probably not, but I actually used the Selective Inking technique demonstrated in this week's video! I also stamped inside of my card, though it is not anywhere near as pretty as Erin Lincoln's card.

I purchased these Vera Bradley item's for my Mom for Mother's Day and wanted to make a coordinating card. I used multiple stamp sets (all PTI though) and inks (PTI and Memento) on PTI CS for the floral background. When I was done with the background I was not sure where to put the sentiment...  so I dug through my dies and found the Tea for Two label die (I have never used it...) and it was the perfect size! Then I went through my new stamp catalog (pictures and post on it to come) and found the perfect sentiment, but it was a long one. So, I carefully inked up "Happy" first, when I was done stamping it I cleaned off my stamp real good, and used scotch tape to cover up the "Happy" and "Day" so that I could ink up "Mother's", once the ink was on I peeled off the tape and stamped "Mother's" in the middle. "Day" was easy since it was on the end and I could ink it up on it's own.
Before adding the ribbon and tag I decided that the background needed a little something else, so I broke out my score-tape and some Martha Stewart glitter and made a glitter border around the background. Once the ribbon and tag were adhered, I popped the panel up on SU dimensionals on the card base which was made out of the same PTI CS.
I stamped a little more on the inside of the card and then put everything in a gift bag. I am not really thrilled with how the gift bag turned out, but Mom loved it.

Christmas in July

Ok, I know that it is August.. but I made this in July! I have just been slacking on the blog and did not upload the pictures until now.

I loved Ali Edwards' December Daily mini album last year. Unfortunately I saw it too late to start. This year I followed her lead and set up my December Daily album in July! It is all ready for pictures and journaling... and a little embellishing of course!

Most of the supplies are from a limited edition Chatterbox Christmas kit that was sold in Sams Clubs last year. Our Sams Club did not have them, so I found someone on a message board who bought me one at their Sams Club. Unfortunately when I got it I did not really like the papers. Or the color scheme. When I was going through my Christmas tub (yep, I have a whole plastic tub full of Christmas stuff) I saw the box and decided that I was going to use it. I also cut up some acrylic, and a PTI stamp box to make the clear pages. There are also a couple of page protectors (Zutter?) scattered through the book. I used my Bind-it-all to put it all together.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Masculine Birthday Card.. and a challenge

I needed a masculine birthday card and decided to chack out the recent challenges at SplitCoastStampers. This card is for Sketch Challenge 235. It is hard to tell (in this crappy picture) but the sentiment block is popped up on pop dots.
