Craft room progress

Ok, this is what it looks like right now!

2008 11 23_0232w 2008 11 23_0233w

The baseboards should be going in today which means I can start moving stuff back into the room this week! My island and shelves will not be done for a while, but I will atleast be able to work on my folding table until I get them!

Almost done!

I just registered for my last 2 MBA courses! Project Management and my Directed Research Project (Thesis). I will be done with school March 30! April 25th will be the official commencement date! I can not wait until I am done!

We have been busy the last week renovating the basement. We took down the panelling, put up sheetrock, replaced the carpet with laminate wood flooring and painted. I am just waiting on Eric to put up the baseboards (today hopefully) so that I can move everything out of the playroom and into my craft room. We will also be painting the playroom and replacing the carpet, but I am thinking that the playroom may have to wait until after the holidays since we still need to finish the downstairs bathroom (which we gutted at the same time as we gutted the craft room, but have not finished)

I have before and after pictures on my craft blog:

PTI Thank you card

I made a Thank You card for my Dad last night using the new PTI Men of Life and Heartfelt Basics sets.

The base of the boat was stamped onto Ripe Avocado and cut out. The green mat is up on pop-dots as well as the sails. I used Heartfelt Basics for the inside sentiment.

Christmas Cards

Last week Mom, Amanda, Amanda's friend Jess and I all got together at Mom and Dad's to work on Christmas cards. When I got there I still was not sure what I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to use a SU stamp set (Snow Swirled) that Amanda had. And I knew that I wanted to use the PTI colors Pure Poppy and Ripe Avocado. But beyond that I had no clue. I played around and ended up with this. I love it!

This is really on white (also PTI) though it looks like a light blue in this picture. I also used the cuttlebug swirled embossing folder, PTI Pure Poppy Saddle stitched ribbon and stickles!

No place to create

I hate it when I lose posts!

Ok.. the past week I have been boxing up my craft room and the girls' playroom in preparation for the remodel and room swap that will occur next week. My craft room is moving into the bigger "family room" and the playroom is being moved into the third bedroom (both rooms are in the basement). The *new* craft room will have laminate wood floors and custom shelves and craft island. My Dad and BIL are making my sister and I HUGE (6' x 3') craft islands! Though I will not get the island and shelves until sometime in December, the room will be done before Thanksgiving. Then I can start to create again!

I have uploaded some layouts into my Scrapbook gallery, and am working on tracking down the manufacturers. I have just recently started recording manufacturers while I am working on my projects, so most of my pages do not have that information on them.

Ok here are some before pictures of my old craft room. (and the post above has been saved since this is where I lost it last time!)

While this room is always messy, I had already started boxing things up which is why there is so much stuff on the floor.

Picking up leaves

Last week Eric raked leaves and wanted to pick them up before it rained. It had to be the windiest day, not conducive to picking up leaves. We had fun though.

The girls had a blast throwing the leaves

I am proud

Last night as I watched the election results come in I was proud. No, I did not vote for Obama.. but I am still proud. I am proud of our nation and proud to have been a part of the process. Too many people do not take the right to vote seriously.

Obama's speech was very well written and delivered, and I appreciated his recognition of all that McCain has done for our country. I hope that he stays true to his word and works closely with McCain in the following years.

New Layout

I made this layout last weekend but finally took a picture of it!

All about the yellow.  The journaling reads: Megan's favorite color is yellow. She proudly announces it anytime she sees something yellow. This outfit was yellow, had a spinny skirt and had "jewels" on the top. Definitly a favorite!

All PTI Products. Stamps: Garden of Life (dots),It's a celebration and Borders and Corners Circle. Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist and Ripa Avocado CS. Polka dot Parade PP. Stazon White, Ripe Avocado and Ocean Tides ink. Used my nestabilities to cut the squares.

This one fulfills Sara's Color Challenge #9

and the PTI Casual Mid Week Challenge 30 hosted by Lynn

I turned the sketch on it's side and moved the "dots" but other than that I stayed true.

New card

I made 2 cards yesterday and fulfilled 2 challenges with each of them!

The first sketch from 2sketches4you

And the color challenge from Sara's Creative Adventures

This color challenge was difficult for me. I love the purples and the green together, but the yellow didn't seem to fit. This is what I came up with!

2008 11 03_0107

PP- PTI Polka Dot Parade; CS- PTI White, Ripe Avocado, Lavendar Moon and Plum Pudding; Ink- PTI Ripe Avocado and Lemon Tart; Ribbon- Plum Pudding; Stamps- Floral Frenzy; Punches- Marvy (circle and scallop circle) and SU scallop border punch

Go Vote!

I voted this morning! I was there when the doors opened at 7 and the wait was only about 20 min so not too bad.

I finally took pictures of Megan playing Aurora. Please excuse their messy bedroom.. Mommy needs to vacuum and put clothes away!

Touch the spindle.. touch it I say

Ideas

I have so many ideas for gifts and cards that I want to make! I just need to find the time to play in my craft room.

I saw this:

And want to do something similar with a cookie sheet and adding more countdown events. I have a roll of magnet, now I just need to get a new cookie sheet and start playing.

Thank You

Today at lunch I saw a young man (late 20's at the most) walk up to a group of soldiers and thank them for their service. Even in a military town like Leavenworth you do not see that happen very often. It was nice to see and reminded me that too often those that put their lives at risk for our country often go un-thanked. I have thanked random servicemen and women in airports before, but not here in my own hometown. I must correct that.

Belle and Tinkerbell

2008 10 31_0081 Belle and Tinkerbell had a good time last night. We didn't do much actual "Trick or Treating" but they are too young for that much candy anyways. We went to my Parent's house, Billy and Amanda's, my Grandparents, the next door neighbors and two other neighborhood houses. We had planned on going up to Saint Mary's do their trick or treat off the street (at the dorms) but Eric had to work a midnight shift so we made it an early night.

See more pictures in the Oct-Nov folder to the right.
