Valentine Decor

I found this frame at the dollar store and knew that I wanted to make some Valentines decor with it.

So I took off the backing
and gathered my supplies that I wanted to work with. K&Co Paper, Papertrey Ink Felt, Nestabilities scalloped heart die and misc ribbon from my stash.

I cut the paper to 6X6 (the opening is about 5.5 x 5.5) and added my hearts. But I did not like it...

So I grabbed the next size up die and some scrap white cardstock and cut more hearts... much better!

I glued the hearts in place, and used tape to adhere the paper to the frame, and stapled on the ribbon. This way it is easy to change out!

I think that I want to add the word "Love" to the bottom right of the frame. I just need to find the right letters or break out the Cricut to make them!

Valentine Layout

I was in a Valentines mood this weekend and decided to scrapbook a picture of the girls from Valentines Day 2009.

The background paper is from a K&Co paper pack. I have had the Rhonda Farrer (i think) photo frame for ages.. as well as the journaling paper. There is also a piece of Making Memories journaling paper behind the one that I actually wrote on. I sprayed some heart doilies with Glimmer Mist, stitched some tulle over the "lace" printed on the PP and added some red bling from Hobby Lobby.

It is not my absolute favorite layout.. but I am trying to let go of the perfectionist and just start scrapping again! I figure a dozen layouts that are not my absolute favorite is better than just having 1 layout that I love. I will never "catch up" at that rate!

Playing with Glimmer Mist

I was playing around with the Sand and Surf Glimmer Mist Kit and the Under the Sea Glimmer Screens that I had ordered and decided to make my first background paper using the mists. This is for some beach pictures that will go in the cruise album. I started with some textured white CS (either Bazzill or SU) and started spraying on the layers. Occasionally I would stop and hit it with my heat gun to dry it.

Then I decided to add on the screens...

Then I added a little more color to the corners and now I have this!

The glimmer is so pretty, I absolutely love it! Now I just need to flatten it and dig out the beach pictures!

I crafted!!

This weekend I actually had the opportunity to play in my clean craft room! I started with this card:
All supplies are Papertrey ink except for the Cuttlebug Embossing folder for the sentiment, and the pearls which came from Hobby Lobby. I cut a bunch of felt hearts with the smallest scalloped heart nestabilities (I do not have the Heart Prints dies yet..) and just  played around with them for a while. I finally decided to stitch them across the middle, but wanted something behind the hearts to anchor them. I embossed the image from the Mat Stack 1 Collection with white embossing powder, and then stitched the hearts right on top of it. I added some Fresh Snow ink to the edges and the embossed sentiment, and topped it off with some pearls.

Meanest Mommy on the Block - Toy Storage

I remember my Mom saying that she was the Meanest Mommy on the Block. Usually referring to rules or punishments that she enacted in our best interests. Of course as a child I never saw it this way! Wednesday night, I was the Meanest Mommy on the Block. I cleaned up the girl's bedroom, Mommy style. Here are a couple of before and afters (blurry.. so sorry!)

The bedroom before:

And after:

You may be asking what I did with all of the toys? Simple... I followed the lead of Melissa at 320 Sycamore, and the Berenstain Bears, and organized the toys and turned this closet:

previously a linen closet that did not hold any linens... into an organized toy and game storage closet with strict rules about who can get what out of the closet.

The girls know that their clothes and American Girl doll stuff (the only things left in their bedroom) must be cleaned up before Mommy or Daddy (or Sira) will give them a toy bin. And all toys must be returned to the bin before they can get something else out. Hopefully this will help the girls learn to take care of their belongings, and reduce Mommy's stress!

Craft Room Clean Up

For months now, well... since we moved in April, my craft room has been a mess. There have been boxes stacked up since the move, and crafting holiday gifts did not help things either. Sunday I got to work cleaning it up! I am not finished yet, there are a couple of small bins to go through and a closet to organize.. but it is already so much better!

Before:
And After:

It was hard, but I narrowed down the supplies that I keep on the top of my workspace to these 4 containers. On the left is a basket with my crop-a-dile, scissors, stapler, corner rounder and small hole punches. The pink bucket holds my pens, the tall white basket thingy holds all of my adhesives (with extras in a basket in the closet) and the green container holds journaling cards and scraps of lined PP. Hopefully I will have the rest of the room cleaned up in the next few days!

New Pictures

I know that I am WAY behind posting... but with the holidays I know that everyone else is busy as well. While I get some posts worked up, there are new pictures in the December photo album!
